AEW Fyter Fest: Night One Predictions

This year, All Elite Wrestling has decided to do something different for Fyter Fest: space it our over two weeks, and give it to us for free. The first night of the two week special will feature some awesome tag team wrestling, along with Hikaru Shida and Cody trying to retain their titles won at AEW: Double or Nothing. It should be a night of exciting matches, as AEW has been on fire throughout this COVID-19 wrestling era. They’ve still managed to put on entertaining shows without fans, and they get another opportunity to do so with Fyter Fest. In this article, I’ll tell you what I think will happen on night one.

Tag Team Match: Jurassic Express (With Marko Stunt) Vs. MJF & Wardlow

Will this match open the show with a bang? Absolutely. After a phenomenal match between Jungle Boy & MJF at Double or Nothing, tonight’s show will feature them in tag team action. While Wardlow won’t move the needle much, Luchasaurus being in the match means you have to watch, if only for his look. There’s only one thing that needs to happen in this match, and that’s MJF’s hand being raised in victory at the end. His impressive winning streak needs to be kept up, as he could be the one to finally take the title off of Jon Moxley. Get MJF a win here, have a great opening match, and everyone is happy.

Prediction: MJF & Wardlow Win

Tag Team Match: Santana & Ortiz Vs. Private Party (With Matt Hardy)

Do I love the addition of Matt Hardy to Private Party? Yes. ‘The Hardy Party’ isn’t what I imagined Hardy would be doing when he signed with AEW, but I’m all for him helping out new talent who can turn into eventual stars. Marq Quen had a fantastic match against Cody for the TNT Championship a couple weeks back, and now he gets to show how great he is in tag team action. Hardy has history with Santana & Ortiz of the Inner Circle, so I think so old wounds will be opened up during this match as well. While Hardy in Private Party’s corner could be a great thing for them, it could also create a distraction that allows the heels to steal the victory.

Prediction: Santana & Ortiz Win

AEW Women’s World Championship: Hikaru Shida (C) Vs. Penelope Ford (With Kip Sabian)

Penelope Ford can become the face of the AEW Women’s Division, but not yet. She’s shown a lot of improvement over the recent months, but Hikaru Shida is no slouch. She just won the AEW Women’s Championship from Nyla Rose at DoN, and I don’t think she’s ready to relinquish it so soon. Watch out for Kip Sabian to try to help Ford get some gold around her waist though.

Prediction: Hikaru Shida Retains

AEW World Tag Team Championships: Kenny Omega & ‘Hangman’ Adam Page (C) Vs. Best Friends

When Kenny Omega and ‘Hangman’ Adam Page are wrestling, it’s impossible to look away. The AEW Tag Team division is the best in the world, and its champions are two of the very best as well. Best Friends have been on a roll, but it’s not time to dethrone the champs yet. When Omega and Page lose the titles, they need to go on to bigger and better things, but I just don’t see them going after the TNT or AEW Championships yet. Their going to win, and this is going to be the best match of the night.

Prediction: Omega & Page Retain

TNT Championship: ‘The American Nightmare’ Cody (C) (With Arn Anderson) Vs. Jake Hager

Cody Rhodes is trying to establish the TNT Championship as a legitimate, and he’s off to a great start. In the midst of a run similar to that of John Cena’s US Open Challenge time that made RAW watchable for weeks, he’s helped put over young stars in fantastic matches, even getting Ricky Starks an AEW contract because of it. Jake Hager will be the most formidable opponent he’s had yet, but it would be a terrrrrrrrible idea to take the title off Cody at this time. Booking Hager to lose runs the risk of him looking like loser Braun Strowman Pre-Wrestlemania 36, but a win over him will only help establish the TNT Championship. Get the fireworks ready, night one of Fyter Fest ends with Cody standing tall.

Prediction: Cody Retains
